During Lent we continue as a church to discern what values God is calling us to hold dear. This is far from a paper exercise in determining what nice words might look good on our website – this is about what it means to belong to Eastleigh Baptist Church. As we seek to discern the vision God has for us as Eastleigh, during Lent we want to use five evenings to reflect on what we have heard from the church family and to discuss five values we believe we should explore.
The wording at this stage is deliberately broad in meaning – what we seek to do together is to wrestle with what these broad statements might mean for us at EBC. The five values we propose to look at are:
Week 1: We value listening. (23rd February) Week 2: We value our relationship with God and each other and the centrality of Jesus. (9th March) Week 3: We value welcoming, inclusion and acceptance. (16th March) Week 4: We value the call to recognise the challenges and need of others, our community, this world. (23rd March) Week 5: We value seeking God’s kingdom – recognising this is broadest understanding of God’s mission for us. (30th March) If you were not able to attend a particular evening you should be able to find the teaching and the discussion questions above. |
